The Pittsburgh Vengeance 2008 AAA team traveled to Columbus this past weekend to compete in the Mid-American District playoffs looking for an opportunity to claim a berth in the USA Hockey Nationals held later this month in Plymouth, Michigan. The Vengeance started with a 7-0 win over the Cleveland Barons on Friday morning before taking on the South Hills Panther later that evening. Next up, the Vengeance dominated SHAHA 6-0 with a chance to advance to the finals with a victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday afternoon. Pittsburgh would defeat the Blue Jackets 4-0 to settle up a Championship Final with their cross-town rival, the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite. The Vengeance would conquer the Pens Elite 4-2 in a hard-fought battle and claim their first Mid-American District banner.
